What to Do After You Cross a Spiritual Threshold

Crossing a spiritual threshold marks a significant change in your kingdom walk, identity, relationship with God, and responsibility. Typically crossing over comes with an increase in power and more territory with greater authority. It is a time that God enlarges your tent pegs and provision is released.

In order to cross the threshold, old things had to die. You just came out of a pruning and pressing season. Maybe you had to enter the fiery furnace to burn off impurities and be reshaped. This allowed the Master Blacksmith to mold you into the perfect weapon for this new territory and new season of your life.
If you are anything like me, you are excited, relieved, grateful, and even a bit exhausted from the crossover. But you have no idea what comes next. Sure, God gave you some instruction, but this is completely new. So now what? This is what's next for those who crossed.
First Things First
Great you made it. PRAISE GOD. That is literally the first thing. Praise and worship him for getting you across. That journey was not easy, but Apostle Paul says it best with "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" Philippians 4:13. We owe God the glory and honor for setting up everything he did in order to get us to where we needed to be. Of course, obedience played a crucial role in your crossing over, so maybe give yourself a "well done" also.
Next thing your going to want to do right after crossing the threshold is strengthen your spirit and your angels. Both are most likely drained and exhausted and quite literally beat up. I went through a lot of warfare before crossing. So, I know my spirit has been through it along with my angels. If you don't know how to strengthen your spirit and your angels by now, I will tell you how. Angels and your spirit need the Word of God. The bible says in Matthew 4:4 “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” and again in Deuteronomy 8:33 “He humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.” I sleep with the audio bible playing every night so that my spirit can be fed even as I sleep. Keep in mind when reading the Word, you must do it out loud if you want to strengthen your angels. If you read silently your spirit will do well but there will be no effect on your angels. Another way you and your angels can get stronger is by worshipping and through praise. When we praise, we release light. Since we are light beings and so are our angels, this light we release through praise will also strengthen us.
After praising the Lord for his goodness and getting your strength back, you want to revisit any instructions, directions, dreams, or prophetic words the Lord gave you regarding this next season of your life. This would be a good time to make sure you have all your I's dotted and T's crossed. Get your house in order, get anything under your stewardship in order, get organized, and get ready. For most of you, you have very little time to do this. God is about to elevate you, and it will happen suddenly and quickly. If you're struggling with how to get ready or need clarity on the instructions you received, try doing this:
- Meditate on the prophetic words, dreams, visions, or instructions you already received
- Get alone with God in the secret place and ask for new instruction
- Seek counsel from a trusted mentor, advisor, or leader in the faith
This will enable you to move with ease once God starts to increase you.
Don't Expect Everyone to Be Happy for You
Not everyone will be happy for what God is doing in your life. Of course there are many different reasons why this could be. Some might have deep seated wounds that were never healed. This could cause feelings of rejection, fear, or failure. Others may just be angry at God because they expected it to be their time. Maybe they are still in a wilderness season and want out. It may be hard for them to enjoy your success when they feel stuck, wandering a spiritual desert. Whatever the case may be, if you crossed that threshold then you have what it takes to continue on your narrow path. Let it be like water off a duck's back and move on. You worked way too hard to get to this point to allow people to get in the way of what God is doing in your life. Pray for them, love them from a distance if you can, and move deeper and higher into your calling. Amen!
Side Note: Remember new levels new devils. Know that your warfare is about to increase, at some point, to a level you have never experienced but you are ready for. Jesus would not have let you cross over if you weren't ready for what was on the other side.
Keep Moving
This is not a time to take a break. This is not a time to rest. After you praise God, strengthen yourself, and go over what the Lord has already instructed, you cannot sit back and "catch your breath". This is a critical moment in your life and for the vitality of the season. Get right to work. Anything you can implement now, do it. Complete any step of your assignment that you can, now. We don't know what is coming our way. I know for myself, now that I have crossed the threshold, I feel peace but a sense of urgency as well. Don't ignore that if you're feeling it too.
Now is also a good time to look for obstacles. What could possibly come up against you? What does the enemy have waiting up ahead? Addressing these obstacles head-on prevents them from derailing your spiritual momentum and protects your assignment.
Continue In Faithfulness and Obedience
Faithfulness and obedience got you this far. It would be foolishness to stop adhering to the Word of God and backslide into the flesh now. Too many people of God have carried a heavy mantle and large assignments, only to drop the ball when reaching the heights of what they carry. Why does this happen so frequently? Often times its due to lust. The lust of the flesh and lust of the eyes begin to corrupt a man (or woman) once they begin to reap the great blessings that God has for them. 1 John 2:16 says "For all that is in the world the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of the Father but is of the world". Don't forget Matthew 6:19-21 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” and lastly Matthew 6:23 “But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!”. I declare and decree that is not your portion, Man and Woman of God reading this. We will not fall to the same mistakes our ancestors and forefathers did. How do we protect ourselves and stay spiritually sharp?
- Read the Word daily. It renews the mind and feeds the spirit.
- Fast often. Saying no to the flesh and dying daily to self will keep your spirit strong and flesh weak.
- Stay in prayer, worship, praise, and the secret place.
- Have other believers you trust and can depend on that you can call on for help. Don't isolate if you can help it.
NOTE: Stewardship is a great responsibility. Don't forget this is Gods kingdom. Not yours. Get a return for God on the investment he placed on the inside of you. He is expecting it. As long as you are in his will, the hand of grace is upon you!
